The Peacebuilding Commission is an intergovernmental advisory body which was established only recently, in 2005, by the General Assembly and the Security Council. The Commission’s role is to support peace efforts in the countries emerging from conflict, thus, bringing together all relevant actors and advising and/or proposing strategies for peacebuilding and recovery, where necessary.
